International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) is a term used by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to describe mobile broadband systems, encompassing technologies like 3G, 4G, and 5G, and focusing on global harmonization and standardization of these systems

In Jamaica, a domestic mobile spectrum license is required for entities providing wireless broadband and mobile services within the country, ensuring regulatory compliance and responsible use of the radio spectrum. 

This license grants you the exclusive right to utilize a designated portion of the radio spectrum, ensuring your wireless internet service runs smoothly and efficiently. By securing this license, you not only comply with regulatory standards but also minimize the risk of interference with other users, establishing your service as reliable and trustworthy.

To obtain an domestic mobile/fixed wireless access radio license, you need to submit an application to the spectrum management authority and meet the necessary requirements.

In Jamaica, the frequency band 614-698 MHz, or portions thereof, is identified for International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT), as per Resolution 224 (Rev.WRC-19/23).
